Retard!!!!!!!

that got youre attention did'nt it. anyway, i dont know shit about photoshop, i have 7.0, how do you get the background black with the fade around the image? every time i do it, it looks like a three year old cut it with scissors.
please help, i'm a retard with a.d.d.

I think what it sounds like you are trying to do is a vignette. If so, make your selection and use "feather". the bigger the pixel amount, the softer it will be. You will fill the background with black. I think is what you mean...

yah, thats pretty much it, but i cant seem to find the feather tool
i tried to use the drop shadow tool and the burn tool. looks better than it did, but i could still use some help. tried to google it also, but their does'nt seem to be anything for what i need.

its under "Select" if you are working at 72 DPI (web resolution) you can get a nice feather by adding 25 pixels to the selection.

Do a circle, square or whatever shape you want around your image (with selection tool) and then "Inverse" the selection (go to "Select"> "Inverse")
this command with reverse your selection so you can fill in the backround with a color, black in most cases works the best.

Remember that you feather "Pixel transition" will be determined by how big your image is.
Smaller images = less amount of feather than larger ones.
